Item Collector

Modpacks grow. You start with a handful of quality-of-life mods, and before you know it, you're staring at a list of 150 mods, each adding dozens of unique items. Most of them you'll never touch. Some you won't even know exist. Item Collector fixes that by turning your entire modpack into one giant scavenger hunt — automatically.

This add-on reads the item registry on world load and builds a quest for every obtainable item, grouped by the mod that added it. No config lists, no manual IDs, no maintenance. Install it alongside 5 mods or 150 — it just works. Whatever's in your pack, it's in your book.

How Item Collector Works

The magic happens behind the scenes. When you load a world, Item Collector scans the entire item registry and generates a collection quest for each obtainable item. The result is a dynamic Collection Book that stays perfectly in sync with your modlist. Add a mod, its items show up. Remove one, they're gone. You never touch a config to keep it in sync.

The Collection Book Interface

Press B (rebindable) or type /collection to open a clean menu built for big modpacks. This isn't a clunky overlay — it's a purpose-built interface that scales cleanly to hundreds of mods without cluttering the vanilla advancements screen.

  • A searchable list of every mod, each with a live progress bar and "collected / total" count
  • Click into a mod to see its full item grid — collected items glow with a green highlight, missing ones stay dimmed
  • Hover any item for its name, how to obtain it, and whether you've got it yet

This layout makes it trivial to spot gaps in your collection. If you're missing three items from a tech mod, you'll know instantly which ones they are and where to start looking.

Smart About What Counts

Not every item in Minecraft is obtainable in survival, and Item Collector knows the difference. Normal items complete the moment they enter your inventory — pick up, craft, trade, whatever. But for the tricky ones, the add-on has clever solutions.

Unbreakable blocks like bedrock, barriers, end portal frames, and modded indestructibles are collected by looking at them. Hold your crosshair on the block for 3 seconds through a spyglass or while crouching, and it's yours. Creative-only items — command blocks, spawn eggs, debug tools, anything hidden from the survival creative tabs — are excluded automatically, so your book only tracks things you can actually get.

Full Control When You Want It

Everything runs automatically, but config/itemcollector.json lets you fine-tune the experience. You can override the auto-detection for any specific item ID with forceInclude or forceBlacklist, toggle the chat message on each collection with announceToChat to mute the spam in big packs, or change how long you look at an unbreakable block to claim it with stareSeconds.

For players who want a zero-config experience, the default settings are already perfect. For pack makers and completionists, the config options provide the precision you need.

Multi-Loader and Multi-Version Support

Item Collector for Minecraft is available for Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge across a range of Minecraft versions. Grab the file that matches your setup. Requires Fabric API on Fabric, with no API dependency on Forge or NeoForge.

If you're using the foxygame.net launcher, you can download Item Collector directly through its add-on catalog with a one-click install, which automatically matches the correct loader and Minecraft version for your profile — no manual file hunting required. The launcher also keeps the add-on updated, so you always have the latest compatibility fixes without checking for new releases manually.

How to Install Item Collector

Learning how to install is straightforward. First, confirm your Minecraft version and loader — Fabric, Forge, or NeoForge. Download Item Collector from a trusted source and place the JAR file into your mods folder. On Fabric, you'll also need Fabric API. Launch the game, load a world, and the Collection Book will populate automatically.

For players running large modpacks, the installation is identical regardless of mod count. Drop the file in, and the add-on handles the rest. There's no setup wizard, no world-generation requirements, and no server-side configuration for single-player use.

Why Item Collector Changes the Game

The real value of this add-on is discovery. Modpacks are full of hidden gems — powerful tools, decorative blocks, niche food items — that players never encounter because they stick to the main quest line. Item Collector surfaces all of it in an organized, trackable way.

It also adds longevity. When you've finished the main progression of a pack, the Collection Book gives you a reason to keep playing. Chase down that last elusive item, complete every mod's page, and turn your playthrough into a true 100% run.

Whether you're a pack developer who wants to encourage exploration or a player who loves completionism, this add-on delivers. It's lightweight, automatic, and scales from a handful of mods to a massive pack without breaking a sweat.

Item Collector turns the chaos of a modded inventory into a structured, rewarding goal. Install it once, and every world you play becomes a scavenger hunt worth finishing.
