Hunted - Agro animals
Most survival modpacks treat wildlife as walking loot. Cows wander into your sword, pigs ignore you until you swing, and wolves only bite back after you poke them. Hunted - Agro animals flips that dynamic entirely. Install it, and the animals around you stop waiting to be provoked. They detect you, they pursue you, and they attack on their own terms.
This add-on is built for players who want the wilderness to feel genuinely dangerous. Whether you are running a horror-themed pack, a hardcore hunting scenario, or a brutal survival challenge, Hunted rewrites the rules of every encounter with a mob that used to be harmless.
What Hunted - Agro animals Actually Does
The core idea is simple: animals become predators. Cows, pigs, wolves, birds, fish, and creatures added by other mods can automatically detect, pursue, and attack nearby players without any trigger. There are no commands to run, no items to craft, and no activation steps. The mod begins working the moment your world loads.
It scans Minecraft's entity registry after other mods register their creatures, so most correctly implemented animal mods are recognized automatically. That makes it a natural fit for large kitchen-sink modpacks where dozens of new species roam the landscape.

Supported Versions and Loader
Hunted v1.2.1 targets Minecraft Java Edition 1.20.1 and requires Minecraft Forge 47.4.10 or newer within the 47.x series, along with Java 17. This build is made for Forge only. It is not currently compatible with Fabric, Quilt, or NeoForge, so plan your modpack accordingly before you download Hunted - Agro animals.
How to Install Hunted - Agro animals
Singleplayer
Install Minecraft Forge for Minecraft 1.20.1, then open your Minecraft installation or modpack folder and locate the mods folder. Place the Hunted JAR inside it, remove any older Hunted versions, and launch the game using the Forge profile. Never run multiple Hunted versions at the same time.
Multiplayer
Install the same JAR on the dedicated server and on every connecting player's client. All sides should share identical Minecraft, Forge, and Hunted versions. On a server, the server's configuration is authoritative and determines actual animal behavior, so administrators should edit config/hunted-common.toml and restart after changes.
If you would rather skip the manual file juggling, the foxygame.net launcher handles the whole process for you: its built-in add-on catalog lists Hunted - Agro animals alongside matching Forge builds, and one click installs everything with version compatibility checked automatically.
Configuring Animal Aggression
Open the Mods menu from Minecraft's main menu, select Hunted, and click Config. A search field lets you filter by display name or entity ID, which is invaluable in packs with hundreds of registered creatures. Click the button beside any animal to toggle it between Aggressive and Normal, then hit Apply & Done.
Behind the scenes, three layers of control govern behavior. The master switch enables or disables everything. The default aggression setting decides what happens to animals without an individual override. Individual overrides live in the aggressiveAnimals and passiveAnimals lists, and the passive list always wins if an entity appears in both.
Key Configuration Values
- followRange — detection distance, default 32.0 blocks, valid range 4.0 to 128.0
- movementSpeed — pursuit speed multiplier, default 1.25, valid range 0.1 to 5.0
- attackDamage — damage per hit, default 4.0, equal to two hearts before armor
- attackInterval — ticks between attacks, default 20, roughly one second
- attackBabies — whether baby animals join the hunt
Raising followRange to 48 and movementSpeed to 1.5 creates a genuinely terrifying hardcore experience. Lowering them to 16 and 0.9 produces a gentler survival curve. Modpack developers can also force behavior through the hunted:aggressive_animals and hunted:peaceful_animals entity type tags.
Final Thoughts
Hunted - Agro animals does not add weapons, guns, or hunting gear. It adds pressure. Every stroll through a forest becomes a calculated risk, every herd becomes a threat, and every modded creature you install becomes a potential predator. For players who believe the wilderness should fight back, this is the add-on that makes Minecraft survival feel hostile again.
