Find the Bombs Resources
Minesweeper-style bomb hunting has arrived in Minecraft, and it only works properly when the visuals match the game logic. Find the Bombs Resources is the companion resource pack for the Find the Bombs data pack, supplying every custom model and texture the game needs to display its board, numbers, and markers. Without it, the data pack's display entities have nothing to render, and your number cubes show up as plain paper.
This pack does not add gameplay on its own. The data pack handles menus, bomb placement, game rules, and the display entities that make the board work. Find the Bombs Resources simply provides the visual assets those entities reference, which is why the two downloads are always installed together.
What the Pack Includes
The centerpiece is a set of number cubes covering values from 1 to 26. Each cube shows the same digit on all six faces, so the count stays readable no matter how the cube is rotated or viewed from above. The digits and edges are translucent against transparent backgrounds, letting you see nearby blocks and terrain through the model instead of blocking your view of the board.
Numbers are color-coded to speed up reading at a glance:
- Blue for 1
- Green for 2
- Red for 3
- Purple for 4
- Additional distinct colors for higher counts
The pack also ships a Flag Tool model and flag markers. Flags are what you place on blocks you suspect hide a bomb, and the Flag Tool model gives the item a proper in-hand appearance rather than a placeholder texture. Together, cubes and flags turn a wall of unreadable entities into a board you can actually solve.
Supported Versions and Requirements
Find the Bombs Resources targets Minecraft Java Edition 26.3 and requires the separate Find the Bombs data pack, version 1.0.0. No mods or plugins are needed, and no loader such as Forge, Fabric, or NeoForge is involved, since this is a pure resource pack paired with a data pack. Bedrock Edition and other Minecraft versions are not supported by this release.
One requirement catches people out: the resource pack must be enabled on every player's client. On a multiplayer server, the host installs the data pack into the server world, but each player enables Find the Bombs Resources locally. If even one player skips it, that player sees broken models.
If you would rather skip manual file handling, the foxygame.net launcher keeps Find the Bombs Resources in its add-on catalog and installs it with a single click, so the pack lands in the right folder without any zip juggling.
How to Install Find the Bombs Resources
Resource Pack
Download Find the Bombs Resources as bomb-search-en-resourcepack-v1.0.0.zip and keep the file zipped. Drop it into your client's resourcepacks folder, then open Options > Resource Packs and move it into the active list on the right side of the screen.
Data Pack
Install the companion bomb-search-en-datapack-v1.0.0.zip into your world's datapacks folder, following the instructions on the Find the Bombs project page. After installing the data pack for the first time, reopen the world or restart the server so it loads correctly.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
If number cubes appear as paper or the flags render with the wrong model, confirm the resource pack is enabled and that both packs are the matching version. Mixing a resource pack with an older data pack breaks the model references. Also avoid enabling multiple versions of this resource pack at once, since Minecraft loads only one and the result may not be the version you expect.
For visual problems, report them in the project comments with your Minecraft version, both pack versions, and a screenshot. The pack is created by carkn, and you can also reach out to @carkuuun on X. Game rules and data pack installation details live on the Find the Bombs project page.
Final Thoughts
Find the Bombs Resources is a small download with a narrow job, and it does that job well. If you plan to play Find the Bombs on Java Edition 26.3, grab both files, enable the resource pack on every client, and the board will read exactly as intended. Version 1.0.0 covers number cubes and flag models, so keep an eye on the changelog for future additions.
