FastPipes
If you have ever watched your server's tick rate collapse under the weight of a sprawling pipe network, you already understand the problem FastPipes was built to solve. This is a high-performance pipe system for items, fluids, and energy, designed from the ground up for modern Minecraft with one goal in mind: moving resources efficiently without punishing your server. Originally forked from the abandoned Refined Pipes project and then completely rewritten, it has grown into something far more capable than its ancestor ever was.
Supported Versions and Loaders
FastPipes currently targets NeoForge 1.21.1 and Forge 1.20.1, so whether you are running a bleeding-edge modpack or a well-established 1.20.1 world, you are covered. The mod avoids unnecessary ticking, relies on smart caching, and keeps network traffic to a minimum. In practice, that means large bases with hundreds of pipes can keep running smoothly instead of dragging the whole server down.
Three Pipe Types, Zero Compromises
Item Pipes
Item pipes come in Basic, Improved, and Advanced tiers. They support smart priority routing, and you get to watch items visibly fly through the pipes as they travel. Machines can also push items directly into the network, which means no extractor is required on the receiving end. That single design decision removes a huge amount of clutter from typical setups.
Fluid Pipes
Fluid transport spans five tiers, from Basic all the way to Ultimate. Fill levels animate in real time inside the pipes, so you can actually see what is flowing and how much. Filtering lets you control exactly what moves through the network, and throughput scales from a modest 1,000 mB up to genuinely massive volumes for late-game industry.
Energy Pipes
Energy pipes are FE and RF compatible and also come in five tiers, ranging from an early-game 1k FE/t up to 32k FE/t at the endgame. Different tiers connect into a single network, with capacity summed across the line and transfer rate bottlenecked by the slowest tier present. That means no free upgrades, but plenty of flexibility when laying out power infrastructure. Each tier upgrades from the previous one, so you craft an Improved pipe by surrounding a Basic pipe with gold, and so on up the chain.
Attachments That Actually Do Things
- Extractors (5 tiers): Pull items and fluids from inventories with whitelist and blacklist filters, redstone control, exact matching, and four routing modes: nearest, furthest, random, or round robin. A smart pre-check ensures items only leave the source if the destination can accept them, so nothing ends up orphaned on the ground.
- Inserters (5 tiers): Mark where items should go. Priority-based delivery keeps storage systems organized, items bounce back when destinations are full, and the network scans for any other inserter with free space before ever resorting to a world drop.
- Void: Destroys overflow items and fluids at the lowest priority, activating only when nothing else can accept them. Filtering is supported.
- Sensor: Emits a redstone signal whenever matching items or fluids pass through.
Pipe Terminal and Tiered Barrels
Storage does not need to be complicated. Connect item pipes to barrels or any inventory, attach a Terminal to the network, and you have a searchable, craftable storage system. The Terminal lets you access every inventory in the network from one block, search by name or @mod, pull items with a click, and craft using a built-in 3x3 grid that draws from network resources. Sorting by name, count, or mod persists between sessions, and a single-user lock keeps things orderly while auto-recovering from disconnects.
Tiered Barrels cover six tiers, from Oak with 27 slots to Netherite with 108 slots and blast resistance. Right-click with an upgrade item to upgrade a barrel in place with contents preserved, and no duplication. Barrels also work as sidebar inventories for Tinkers' Construct Crafting Stations.
For players who want to skip the manual setup entirely, the foxygame.net launcher offers a one-click install path that drops FastPipes straight into a compatible profile, which is a convenient shortcut if you would rather spend your evening building a factory than configuring mod loaders.
Visuals and Compatibility
Pipes connect intelligently in all six directions with smooth 3D models, items rotate as they travel, fluid levels animate in real time, and every attachment renders as a proper 3D model on the pipe. Dye any pipe to create separate color-coded networks, and build underwater thanks to waterlogged pipe support. The mod ships with its own wrench: shift+right-click to break, right-click a bare pipe side to disconnect, and right-click an attachment to open its GUI. Wrenches from other mods work too.
Integration is solid as well. Jade shows transfer rates, fluid contents, and items in transit when you hover over a pipe, plus tier, redstone mode, filter mode, routing, stack size, exact mode, network status, and who is currently using a Terminal. JEI includes full info pages for every item, and Tinkers' Construct benefits from the barrel sidebar support mentioned above.
Configuration and Installation
Every pipe tier's speed, capacity, and transfer rate can be tweaked in the server config, along with barrel sizes. Pack authors can balance everything for a modpack or crank it all up for a chaotic sandbox. If you are wondering how to install it, the process is standard: grab the correct build for your loader, drop it into your mods folder, and launch the game.
When you download FastPipes for Minecraft, you are getting a pipe system that respects your server's performance without sacrificing depth. Between the tiered pipes, genuinely useful attachments, the Terminal and Barrel storage combo, and thoughtful mod integrations, it covers everything a technical player needs while staying light on ticks. If lag has been the reason you avoided pipe mods, this is the one worth trying.
