FAK-Shuns: Factions, Guns, and Territory Wars for Minecraft
Most modpacks hand you a pile of mods and wish you luck. FAK-Shuns does something far more deliberate: it takes the chaos of a hundred mods and bends them all toward a single purpose. That purpose is war. Built around the Tribes mod, this pack turns Minecraft into a persistent faction battlefield where alliances shift, borders matter, and a single sniper shot can flip control of an entire hemisphere.
What Makes FAK-Shuns Different
FAK-Shuns is not a kitchen-sink pack. Every mod in the list serves the faction loop, from territory claiming to espionage. The centerpiece is Tribes, which divides the map into a neutral No Man's Land and two hemispheres that your alliance can eventually control. At the start, most of the action happens in the neutral zone, a thousand-block strip where normal play is allowed. Once your tribe grows, you pick a hemisphere, and that decision changes everything about how you mine, build, and fight.
Here is the twist that keeps players on edge: in a hemisphere your tribe does not control, you cannot break blocks or interact with items. Mining operations, storage, and base construction become strategic assets rather than casual activities. Tribes also applies potion effects to every member, some helpful and some punishing, which means your roster size directly affects your combat effectiveness.
Guns, Spies, and Fortified Bases
Mr Crayfish's Guns mod gives players silenced pistols and sniper rifles, ideal for ambushes in the neutral zone. The security mod adds genuine spycraft: minefields, security cameras, password-protected chests, and blocks that only specific players can break. A well-designed base in FAK-Shuns is nearly impossible for an enemy team to crack without serious planning.
Cyclic handles the boring parts, automating farming and repetitive tasks so you can focus on the war effort. Ice and Fire adds dragons and other dangerous creatures, though the configs spread them out so they rarely interrupt a good firefight. Village Guards, Waystones, and similar quality-of-life mods round out the experience without diluting the PvP focus.
Supported Versions and Loaders
FAK-Shuns runs on Forge and is available for Minecraft 1.19.2, with an earlier build targeting 1.16.5. The 1.19.2 release is the more complete version, while the 1.16.5 build offers a lighter alternative for players on older setups. Minimum memory allocation sits at 3072 MB, though 4 GB or more is recommended if you plan to run a server with several tribes active at once.
If you would rather skip manual file juggling, the foxygame.net launcher handles the whole setup for FAK-Shuns with a single click, pulling the correct Forge build and mod versions automatically so you can jump straight into the faction fight.
How to Install FAK-Shuns
Installing the pack is straightforward if you follow the right order. The steps below apply to both the 1.19.2 and 1.16.5 builds.
- Install a compatible Forge version for your chosen Minecraft release.
- Allocate at least 3072 MB of RAM in your launcher's Java arguments.
- Place the FAK-Shuns modpack files into your instance or mods folder as directed.
- Launch the game once to generate the config folder, then close it.
- Adjust Tribes settings in world/serverconfig if you want a different No Man's Land size.
Server owners should pre-generate roughly a 100 by 100 chunk area around spawn, in both the Overworld and the Nether, to keep tick times stable. The Performant mod is already included and does much of the heavy lifting, but pre-generation remains the single biggest performance win. The InControl mod comes preconfigured for heavy mob spawns, mostly tied to the aquaculture content, and the spawn.json file contains copyable examples if you need to tweak it.
Running a Faction Server
One final admin note: disable player visibility in JourneyMap's admin settings once you log in as an operator. Leaving it on defeats the entire point of territorial warfare. With that done, your server is ready for tribes to form, alliances to break, and territory to change hands after every kill.
Why FAK-Shuns Works
FAK-Shuns succeeds because it understands that faction gameplay lives or dies on consequence. Losing a fight means losing ground. Gaining members means gaining power. Whether you download FAK-Shuns for solo practice or a full server war, the pack rewards planning, teamwork, and a willingness to shoot first. Claim your territory, build your guns, and see how long your tribe can hold the line.
