Expanded Building

Every Minecraft player knows the feeling: you picture a base in your head, but placing it block by block in Survival turns a fun idea into an afternoon of scaffolding and mistakes. Expanded Building solves that problem by splitting design from construction. You plan freely in a protected Creative bubble, then a Builder NPC raises the structure for real, using real materials, while your world stays exactly as Survival intended.

What Expanded Building Actually Does

The core idea is simple but clever. You mark out a build site with the Builder's Wand, and the mod stores your inventory and game mode safely away. Inside that marked area you switch to Creative and design whatever you want. Level a hill, dig out a cellar, sketch a tower that reaches into the clouds. The site spans the full world height, so nothing is off limits.

When you finish, the world snaps back to exactly how it was before. Nothing you placed in Creative stays. Instead, your design remains as a ghost blueprint: blue for blocks to place, red for ground to clear. Hand the required materials and the builder's wage to the NPC, and he walks to every block, turns, and swings, with the sound of a block placed by hand.

No Free Building, No Duplication

This is the part that keeps servers honest. Creative items never leak into Survival, and nothing gets duplicated. If your plan clears terrain, the builder needs tools in his chest, and he wears them down as he digs. When there is nothing usable left, he stops. Every block costs what it should.

Blueprints, Litematica and WorldEdit Support

A finished plan does not have to stay where you drew it. You can save a blueprint to a file, share it, and let someone else drop it into their folder to build the same thing. Loading a blueprint gives you a live preview that follows you as you move. It glows green while it fits and red when it would hang over an edge. Right-click confirms, sneak and right-click cancels, and nothing is written until you commit.

Version 1.1.0 added import support for Litematica and WorldEdit schematics, which is a genuine game changer. Two folders are created on first start, and you simply drop files in. Commands like /eb litematic load and /eb schem load hand the file to the same preview a native blueprint gets. The mod reads .litematic versions 1 through 6 and Sponge .schem versions 2 and 3, gzipped or raw. Blocks from mods you do not have are skipped and reported rather than silently turned into air.

If you would rather skip manual file juggling entirely, the foxygame.net launcher handles the whole routine for you: its add-on catalog installs Expanded Building alongside matching Fabric builds in a single click, so version compatibility is sorted before you ever launch the game.

How to Install Expanded Building for Minecraft

Getting started is straightforward, and the mod is well documented. Here is the short version of how to install it:

  • Confirm you are running Minecraft 26.2 or 26.1.2 with Fabric Loader 0.19.3 or newer, plus Fabric API and Java 25.
  • Place the mod file in your mods folder alongside Fabric API.
  • Launch the game and craft the Builder's Wand from one emerald and two sticks. The recipe is known from the start, and the wand also appears in the Tools and Utilities creative tab.
  • Left-click a block to set corner one, right-click for corner two, and your site is marked.

On a server where some players do not have the mod, everything still works: the dashboard falls back to a chat menu. Only the ghost preview needs the mod on both sides, since it is drawn by the client.

Managing Materials and Speed

You can hand materials over piece by piece, or set a material chest by crouch and right-clicking a chest with the wand. The builder draws only what the project still needs and leaves the chest empty again, so a hopper can keep it topped up. It stays your chest, and nothing else inside it is touched.

Large projects can be hurried along for a price. Switching from 1x to 4x or 20x pace cuts a multi-hour build down to minutes, and the surcharge grows with the square root of the speed. Drop back to a slower pace and the difference is refunded immediately.

Protection, Teamwork and Reliability

A build site is not a no-go zone. Only what the builder still needs is locked, while doors, chests, furnaces and levers keep working normally. You can carry on decorating the house while he digs out the cellar underneath it. Protection blocks explosions, fire spread, flowing liquids, pistons, mob griefing and other players from touching the blocks he still has to place.

You can invite others with /eb add, and the site stays visible to everyone nearby even while you are offline. The mod also survives things going wrong. Die during planning and your real inventory returns with no creative drops. Disconnect, wander off, or crash the server, and your plan is saved rather than lost.

Final Thoughts

Expanded Building respects what makes Survival satisfying. It removes the tedium of placing thousands of blocks by hand without handing you a creative shortcut. You still pay in materials, tools and emeralds, and the builder still works for every block. If you want to download Expanded Building and stop rebuilding your dream base three times before it looks right, this is one of the most thoughtful construction mods available for Minecraft today.
