Diamethysts!

Long ago, an alchemist in a tall stone tower was handed a curious crystal by a hooded stranger. It looked like amethyst fused with diamond, and it pulsed with energy near other precious materials. Together they named it diamethyst, and the alchemist set out to recreate it in bulk. Before he could finish, a marauding band of Illagers broke down his door demanding the formula. Knowing they would become unstoppable, he sabotaged the recipe. The greedy Illagers tried it anyway, the tower exploded, and the secret was lost. Shards scattered across the world, gathered up by villagers, wandering traders and Illagers alike. That is the premise behind Diamethysts!, a content mod that turns that lost formula into a full progression system of weapons, tools, armor and artifacts.

What Diamethysts! Adds to Minecraft

This is not a simple "new ore" mod. Diamethysts! rebuilds how gear is made, so a sword actually needs a hilt, and a hilt needs a leather bound stick. The result is a richer crafting experience where you earn your equipment instead of skipping straight to endgame power on day one.

Weapons and Combat

  • Swords, pickaxes, axes, shovels and hoes that beat their vanilla counterparts in power and durability
  • Sickles, which swing far faster than a clumsy old sword
  • Battle axes, slower but packing a hefty wallop
  • Scimitars, slightly quicker than a standard sword
  • Bows that deal more damage the longer you hold a full draw
  • Arrows that affect mobs or blocks in different ways and fly further from a diamethyst bow
  • Crossbows with varying power, punch and flame levels (1.19+)

Armor, Shields and Utility

Shields come with different durability tiers, and netherite lets you push diamethyst gear even further. Horse armor keeps your mounts protected and grants extra buffs while you ride. Fishing rods offer varied durability, longer casts and built-in luck and lure (1.19+). Potions round things out, and you do not always have to drink them. Every weapon, tool and armor stat is fully configurable, so modpack authors can tune the balance to taste.

Geodes, Shards and Lost Artifacts

Budding diamethyst blocks grow clusters slowly for shard harvesting, and they appear in extremely rare geodes. That feature requires Diamethysts 1.6.0+ and Forge for 1.17+. Whether they can be created another way is left for you to experiment with. Shards of broken crystals turn up while exploring, and the alchemist is rumored to have hidden powerful artifacts before he died. Happy hunting.

If you would rather skip the manual setup, the foxygame.net launcher makes it painless: Diamethysts! sits in its add-on catalog, so a single click installs the mod and keeps it updated automatically whenever a new build lands.

Supported Versions and Loader

Diamethysts! for Minecraft is built for Forge only, and there are no current plans to port it to Fabric. The mod supports a broad range of releases from 1.16.5 upward, including 1.17.1, 1.18.2, 1.19 through 1.20.1, and beyond. One important note: the Caves & Cliffs Backport mod is a required dependency for the 1.16.5 version only. It is not needed for 1.17.1 and above.

Compatibility and Add-ons

  • Better Combat (1.18.2 and above)
  • Realistic Horse Genetics (1.19 through 1.20.1)
  • Shield Expansion (1.19 through 1.20.1)
  • Treasure2 mod support (1.20.1 only)

Separate add-ons extend the experience with extra arrow upgrades, a golem made of diamethyst, a selection of medieval weapons, and more. Language support covers US English, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. The developer has also teased new weapon types, additional rare artifacts, a wiki, and possible integrations with other popular mods.

How to Install Diamethysts!

First, confirm you are running a Forge profile that matches your chosen Minecraft version. Next, download Diamethysts! from an official host only, since reposted files on third-party sites may be modified and unsafe. Then drop the jar into your mods folder, add the Caves & Cliffs Backport dependency if you are on 1.16.5, and launch the game. Modpack developers are welcome to include the mod with proper credit. If you get stuck, the developer keeps the details deliberately vague to preserve the spirit of experimentation, but you can always ask for help directly or join the community Discord. Now go craft a diamethyst crystal and see what the alchemist left behind.
