Revamping Minecraft’s Iconic Structures with TaTe’s Structure Reworks
Minecraft’s generated structures have always been the heart of exploration, but after countless updates, some classics can feel a little dated. TaTe’s Structure Reworks breathes new life into these familiar landmarks, modernizing their looks, overhauling loot, and introducing fresh mechanics that make every dungeon dive feel rewarding again. Whether you’re a seasoned adventurer or a builder hunting for inspiration, this datapack transforms the way you experience the game’s most memorable locations.
What Does This Pack Actually Change?
The project splits its work into two clear categories: tweaks and full remakes. Tweaked structures keep their core identity but receive visual polish and smarter loot distribution, while remade structures are rebuilt from the ground up with entirely new layouts, challenges, and secrets.
Tweaked structures include:
- Trail Ruins
- Trial Chambers
- End City
- Woodland Mansion
- Bastion
- Ancient City
- Pillager Outpost
Fully remade structures are where the pack truly shines. These have been redesigned to offer a completely fresh experience:
- Stronghold
- Nether Fortress
- Ocean Monument
- Dungeon (the original variant still spawns, so you get both)
Vaults and Keys: Shared Loot for Everyone
One of the smartest additions is the integration of Vaults—similar to those in Trial Chambers—into multiple structures. Each Vault uses a unique texture (a CTM mod is required for the full effect) and lets multiple players claim rewards as long as they hold the correct key. This means no more racing your friends to the chest; cooperation actually pays off.
Keys exist for a wide range of locations, and while some structures don’t yet have Vaults to match their keys, they’ll be added in future updates. Currently, you can find and use keys for Trail Ruins, End City, Woodland Mansion, Bastion, Ancient City, Stronghold, Nether Fortress, Ocean Monument, Dungeon, Desert Pyramid, Jungle Temple, Igloo, Witch Hut, Pillager Outpost, and Shipwreck. Keys drop from Wandering Traders (always one at the end of their trades), notable mob kills, Trial Spawners, and various loot tables scattered across the world.
The Gazing: A New Mini-Boss That Guards the Dungeon
Deep inside the revamped Dungeon, a formidable new enemy awaits: the Gazing. This 100-heart mini-boss hovers above the central spawner and afflicts all nearby players with Mining Fatigue. It actively despises explosives—blinking away TNT and petrifying most explosive entities until they crumble to dust. Its attacks include a guardian-like laser beam and a vicious bite for anyone foolish enough to get close.
If you enter with Bad Omen or Trial Omen, the Gazing transforms into an Ominous Gazing with doubled health and stronger status effects. Pickaxes deal double damage, giving miners a fighting chance. When defeated, it drops Gazing Remains, a versatile trophy that can be worn on your head, eaten to clear Mining Fatigue (with a chance of bonus effects), or placed down to revive a neutral Gazing that won’t harm you. On Peaceful difficulty, it despawns, so hardcore players needn’t worry about accidental encounters.
Spear Enchantment: Cavalry Surge
A new enchantment called Cavalry Surge adds a thrilling mobility option for mounted combat. When you use a spear while riding any mob, the enchantment boosts your mount’s speed dramatically. On boats and minecarts, it propels you forward instead. The ability has a short cooldown to prevent spam, and you’ll get a warning a few seconds before it triggers. Level II is faster but causes the cooldown to activate sooner. Note that Cavalry Surge is incompatible with the Lunge enchantment, so you’ll need to choose your combat style carefully.
Loot Table Overhauls and Music Disc Distribution
Almost every structure’s loot has been rebalanced with intention. Certain enchanted books now have a much higher chance to appear in specific locations, encouraging targeted exploration. For example, Ancient Cities are your best bet for Mending, while Strongholds favor Protection variants. Ocean Monuments lean into trident enchantments, and Nether Fortresses offer fire-related books. Even Abandoned Mineshafts become prime spots for Efficiency, Fortune, and Silk Touch.
Music discs have also been tied to individual structures, replacing the old creeper-skeleton method. You’ll now find Cat and 13 in Dungeons, Pigstep in Bastions, Relic in Trail Ruins, and Creator discs in Trial Chambers, among many others. This gives every explorer a clear reason to visit each biome.
Installation Made Simple
To get started, download both the data pack and resource pack files from the official sources (Planet Minecraft, Modrinth, or CurseForge). Unzipping them is optional but recommended. Add the resource pack to your selected packs menu—ideally at the top—and place the data pack either in the world’s datapacks folder or select it during world creation. When you load the world, you might see an experimental settings warning; this is harmless, but backing up important worlds is always a smart habit. If you’re looking for a smoother way to manage such packs, the foxygame.net launcher provides a modern, flexible platform where you can download and activate mods and datapacks right from its menu, streamlining the entire setup without digging through folders.
Why This Pack Deserves a Spot in Your World
TaTe’s Structure Reworks doesn’t just slap a fresh coat of paint on old builds—it rethinks how players interact with them. The addition of Vaults turns multiplayer looting into a cooperative activity, the Gazing introduces a memorable boss fight with real tactical depth, and the loot redistribution makes every structure feel purposeful. The Cavalry Surge enchantment even adds a new layer to mounted travel and combat. Whether you’re chasing rare music discs or hunting for that perfect enchanted book, this pack turns every expedition into a meaningful journey. Give your world the upgrade it deserves and rediscover the thrill of stumbling upon a structure that actually feels new again.
