Cauldrons
Vanilla Minecraft already lets you fill a cauldron with water, lava, and powder snow, but the Cauldrons add-on takes that humble block and turns it into a whole toolbox of effects, fluids, and food. If you have ever wished your cauldron could do more than hold a bucket of water, this is the mod that answers that wish. It is a small, focused add-on that rewards experimentation, and once you try it you will wonder how you ever played without it.
What the Cauldrons Add-On Changes
At its core, Cauldrons adds new fill states to the vanilla cauldron block. Each new state has its own behavior, and most of them trigger when you stand inside the cauldron or interact with it. The result is a block that doubles as a potion station, a healing pool, an experience farm, and a soup kitchen. Nothing about the base game is removed, so the add-on slots neatly into existing worlds.
Milk Cauldron
Stand inside a Milk Cauldron while you have active potion effects and it clears them, consuming one level of the cauldron in the process. This is a clean, no-fuss way to strip away unwanted debuffs without hunting for a bucket of milk.
Honey Cauldron
Step into a Honey Cauldron while poisoned and it cures the effect, lowering the cauldron level by one. It is a lifesaver in the Nether or during cave exploration when a spider or a witch gets the drop on you.
Dragon Breath Cauldron
The Dragon Breath Cauldron is the dangerous one. Standing inside damages you, so treat it with respect. Its real purpose is brewing: right-click it with a splash potion and it converts that potion into a lingering potion, lowering the level by one. This gives you a reliable way to craft lingering potions without a trip to the End.
Experience Cauldron
Stand in an Experience Cauldron and it grants you experience points, dropping the level by one each time. It is a tidy storage solution for players who want to bank XP and spend it later on enchanting or repairs.
Stew and Soup Cauldrons
The add-on also introduces Mushroom Stew, Rabbit Stew, Beetroot Soup, and Suspicious Stew Cauldrons. These let you store and dispense food in a way that fits naturally with the game's cooking items, and they are handy for feeding a group without carrying a stack of bowls.
Planned Features and Current Limits
The developer has been upfront about what is still missing. Potion Cauldrons and Dyed Water Cauldrons are not implemented yet, though both are planned for a future update. If you are hoping for colored water for decoration or a cauldron that holds a specific potion type, you will need to wait. Everything listed above, however, works as described right now.
Supported Versions and Loader
The Cauldrons add-on runs on Fabric, which keeps it lightweight and easy to pair with other Fabric mods. It targets modern Minecraft releases, so check the mod page for the exact game version that matches your installation before you download Cauldrons. Because it relies on Fabric, you will also need the Fabric Loader and Fabric API installed alongside it.
How to Install Cauldrons
Getting the add-on running is straightforward if you already use Fabric.
- Install the Fabric Loader for your Minecraft version.
- Place the Fabric API jar in your mods folder.
- Download Cauldrons for Minecraft from the official mod page and drop the jar into the same mods folder.
- Launch the game with the Fabric profile and confirm the add-on loads.
If you would rather skip the manual steps, the foxygame.net launcher handles the whole process in a single click and keeps Cauldrons updated automatically whenever a new build is released. That means fewer version mismatches and no digging through folders to find the right jar.
Why It Belongs in Your Mod List
Cauldrons is the kind of add-on that quietly improves everything around it. It gives builders a reason to place cauldrons as functional decor, gives survival players a portable cure for poison and potion effects, and gives brewers a shortcut to lingering potions. The stew and soup variants round out the food side of the game without adding clutter. Whether you are running a small survival world or a busy server, the extra utility is easy to appreciate.
If you want more mileage out of a block you already know, download Cauldrons, install it on Fabric, and start experimenting with every fill state it offers. The planned potion and dyed water cauldrons will only make it better.
