Camper's Rest
Minecraft 26.3 introduced the straw bed and the cushion, two items that looked great in a build but did very little in practice. Camper's Rest is a server-side data pack that fixes exactly that. It ties the straw bed, the campfire and the cushion into one small camping system, and suddenly every one of those blocks has a reason to exist beyond decoration.
There is no mod, no resource pack and no client-side setup. You download Camper's Rest, drop the zip into your world's datapacks folder, and the whole system is live. It runs entirely on the server, which means friends on vanilla clients can join and benefit without installing anything at all.
What Camper's Rest Actually Does
The design philosophy here is simple: reward players for genuinely setting up camp instead of skipping the night in a random hole. Three mechanics carry the whole pack.
Straw Beds That Pay You Back
Sleep through the night in a straw bed and you earn XP. The bed is consumed in the process, and three to six wheat drop where it stood. That wheat is your recycling loop: turn it into hay bales to craft replacement beds, or bake it into bread for the cushion mechanic below. Leave the bed before the night finishes and you simply get the bed back, with no reward. Servers can flip a config option so early leavers receive wheat instead, a gentle way to handle impatient or trolling players without banning anyone.
Campfires Create a Real Campsite
Place a lit campfire or soul campfire within four blocks of your bed and the reward grows. You wake up with bonus XP plus Regeneration I. The multiplayer angle is where it shines: sleep around the same campfire with friends and each extra sleeper increases the bonus for everyone, adding XP and regeneration seconds per player up to a configurable limit of four. A group camp is measurably better than a solo one, which is a rare and welcome bit of design in a data pack.
Cushions Finally Have a Job
Sit on a cushion next to a lit campfire and eat. You gain Regeneration, and the duration scales with how filling the food is, at two seconds per hunger point by default. Bread gives ten seconds. Your hunger bar behaves exactly as it does in vanilla, so nothing is secretly doubled or cheated. It is a small, tidy buff that makes a campfire dinner feel like a real rest stop.
If you would rather skip manual folder management, the foxygame.net launcher handles Camper's Rest through its add-on catalog, so the pack lands in the correct datapacks directory and stays updated without you touching a single file.
Supported Versions and Loaders
Camper's Rest requires Minecraft: Java Edition 26.3 and works through the standard data pack loader. There is no Fabric or Forge dependency, no mod loader to install, and no version juggling. It functions in singleplayer and multiplayer alike, and because it uses its own campersrest namespace while only hooking into the vanilla load and tick function tags, it coexists peacefully with other data packs.
How to Install Camper's Rest
- Download the Camper's Rest zip file.
- Do not unzip it. Data packs load from the compressed archive.
- Place it in your world's datapacks folder. On a server, that path is world/datapacks.
- Run /reload, or restart the world or server.
- Confirm it loaded with /function campersrest:config/view.
That is the entire process. No configuration files to edit, no dependencies to chase.
Configuration and Languages
Operators can tune everything in-game with scoreboard commands, covering XP values, regeneration duration, the campfire radius, the group bonus limit and the early-leave behavior. Shortcut functions exist for the common toggles, including bed, wheat and view.
Six languages ship inside the pack: English, Português (BR), Español, Français, Deutsch and Русский. Each player picks their own with a trigger command, and server owners set the default. English and Brazilian Portuguese are the reference translations, while the others are first drafts open to community corrections. No resource pack is needed for any of it.
The Verdict
Camper's Rest is the kind of add-on that makes you wonder why the base game did not ship this way. It is lightweight, it respects vanilla balance, and it converts three forgettable items into a small cooperative ritual. If you run a survival server and want players to actually build camps instead of walling themselves in at dusk, this is an easy recommendation.
