BOT_LT5

Most training dummies in Minecraft are exactly that: dummies. You spawn them, you wail on them, they stand there and take it. BOT_LT5 is not that. It is a combat add-on that starts as a practice partner and slowly turns into something that watches you from a distance, counts your kills, and eventually challenges you to a duel you cannot walk away from.

If you have ever wanted a fight that feels personal, this mod delivers it. It is built for players who already know their way around a sword and want an opponent that reacts, circles, and punishes lazy movement.

What BOT_LT5 Actually Does

The add-on begins simply enough. You type /duel and BOT_LT5 appears wearing a plain Steve skin with a nametag floating above its head. It swings back a little, so early practice sessions are not completely one-sided. Kill it as many times as you like. After the third kill, though, it stops answering your call.

Then it comes back on its own.

From that point the mod shifts into a stalking phase. BOT_LT5 shows up in the distance, says something in chat, and vanishes before you can close the gap. Later it stops keeping its distance and starts hitting you. Damage is capped at this stage, so it cannot kill you, but it will knock you down and leave. Eventually you receive a duel invite: 1v1, netherite, no rematch. Escape does not close the prompt.

The Duel and the Darkness

Say yes and BOT_LT5 takes your inventory, hands you both full netherite gear and a sword, and the fight begins where you stand. Run and you get pulled back. It teleports behind you, circles instead of standing still, and heals once when it is nearly dead. Beat it and the mod is over. Your gear returns and it never bothers you again.

Say no and something else happens. Phase 4 exists only for players who refused, and it cannot be won.

Throughout the escape, the world also loses its free ambient lighting. Torches, daylight, and lava still work, but unlit corners go properly black and caves become genuinely dangerous. Night vision disables it, and so does setting trueDarkness = false in the config.

Supported Versions and Requirements

BOT_LT5 for Minecraft currently targets Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge 47.x. It also requires GeckoLib 4.4 or newer, which is not bundled with the download, so install it separately or the mod will not load. Both singleplayer and multiplayer are supported, and on a server every player gets their own BOT_LT5 with separate progress.

If you would rather skip the manual file juggling, the foxygame.net launcher handles the whole setup in a single click, pulling BOT_LT5 and its GeckoLib dependency into the right folder automatically and keeping them updated between sessions.

Commands Worth Knowing

  • /duel — spawns the dummy. Stops working once it escapes.
  • /botlt5 status — shows your current phase and kill count.
  • /botlt5 reset — wipes progress and clears a lockout. OP only.
  • /botlt5 skip <stalk|hunt|invite|final> — jumps straight to a phase. OP only, and the one to use if you are testing rather than playing.

Configuration and Tuning

Nearly every number lives in config/botlt5-common.toml. You can adjust how many kills trigger the escape, how long it waits between appearances, its health, armour, damage, and swing speed in the duel, the arena size, whether it gets a second wind, and whether both fighters receive golden apples. The banOnLoss flag controls the lockout, while screenEffects handles the red flashes, screen shake, and glitch bars. If you are photosensitive, set that to false and everything still functions.

Finding the difficulty balance is straightforward. If the duel keeps kicking you, raise duelGoldenApples or increase duelBotAttackCooldown. If it feels too easy, drop the cooldown to 8 and see how long you last.

Before You Install

One warning matters more than the rest. If you lose the duel, you are locked out of that world. This is intentional behavior, not a bug, and it does not delete your save file. You can reverse it by setting banOnLoss = false, joining, running /botlt5 reset, and turning it back on. On a server, only the player who lost is affected. Still, the safest approach is a fresh world rather than the base you have been building since 2019.

BOT_LT5 is a strange, atmospheric take on combat practice. It rewards players who read the description, respect the rules, and are willing to fight something that fights back. If you want a dummy that just stands there, look elsewhere. If you want an opponent with a memory, this is it.
