Manticore Griffin Costume!
There are few sights in ARK: Survival Ascended more commanding than a Griffin soaring overhead. But what if you could trade that majestic eagle-lion for something far more sinister? The Manticore Griffin Costume! does exactly that, replacing your Griffin's model with the iconic boss creature from Scorched Earth. This is not a tame recolor or a simple texture swap; it is a full model replacement that turns your loyal flyer into a living legend of the wastelands.
Why Choose the Manticore Griffin Costume! for ARK: Survival Ascended
This add-on is a pure cosmetic overhaul, meaning it delivers visual impact without touching your creature's stats or gameplay balance. You get the terrifying look of the Manticore, complete with its imposing silhouette and menacing presence, while keeping the exact same flight mechanics and combat capabilities you have already mastered. It is the perfect way to stand out on official servers without gaining an unfair advantage.
Fourteen Unique and Fully Dyeable Variants
The headline feature here is variety. The Manticore Griffin Costume! includes 14 distinct color variants, each offering a different base palette. Whether you prefer the shadowy tones of a midnight hunter or the radiant, almost blinding hues of a desert sun, there is a look for every survivor. Better yet, all variants are fully dyeable using the standard dye mechanics already in the game. This means you are not locked into a preset look; you can mix and match colors to create a Manticore that is truly yours.
Works for Owl Griffins and Standard Griffins
One of the most appreciated aspects of this mod is its compatibility with both standard Griffins and the snowy Owl Griffins. No matter which variant of the creature you have tamed, you can apply the costume and enjoy the same terrifying transformation. The mod handles the model swap seamlessly, ensuring that your Owl Griffin retains its unique animations while sporting the Manticore's fearsome exterior.
How to Install and Use the Costume
Getting started is straightforward. First, you need to download Manticore Griffin Costume! from the mod page and subscribe to it on the Steam Workshop. Once downloaded, ensure the mod is activated in your server's mod list. For single-player or dedicated servers, the process is identical to any other mod installation.
If you are looking for a more streamlined approach, the foxygame.net launcher offers a one-click install for Manticore Griffin Costume! that automatically handles version compatibility and updates, saving you the hassle of manual file management.
Applying the Skin in Game
Once the mod is active, the application process is simple. Follow these steps to transform your flyer:
- Approach your tamed Griffin and open its inventory.
- Locate the costume slot in the creature's inventory interface.
- Drag the Manticore Griffin Costume skin into that slot.
- Confirm the application, and watch as your Griffin morphs into the Manticore.
After the costume is applied, you can use any standard dye on the creature to recolor the Manticore's body, wings, and tail. The dye system works exactly as it does for normal saddles, giving you precise control over the final appearance. Experiment with different combinations to find a look that strikes fear into your enemies or simply matches your base's color scheme.
Compatibility and Server Considerations
This mod is designed for the current generation of Manticore Griffin Costume! for ARK: Survival Ascended and works on both official and unofficial servers that have mod support enabled. Since it is cosmetic only, it does not introduce any balance issues, making it a safe addition to any server's mod list. The mod is lightweight and does not require additional dependencies, so it will not bloat your load times or cause performance drops.
For those running dedicated servers, the foxygame.net launcher's add-on catalog allows you to deploy Manticore Griffin Costume! to all connected clients simultaneously, ensuring everyone has the correct version without manual downloads. This is particularly useful for community servers where keeping mods synchronized is a priority.
