Death Essence Upgrade: Revive ARK Tames Creatively

Death Essence Upgrade

The world of ARK: Survival Ascended is vast, dangerous, and unforgiving. Losing a prized tame to a rogue Raptor or a sudden server crash can be devastating. Fortunately, the modding community continues to deliver incredible quality-of-life improvements, and few are as transformative as the Death Essence Upgrade. This add-on takes the original Death Essence mechanic from Scorched Earth and evolves it into a full-fledged Creature Implant system, similar to what mobile survivors experienced in ARK: Mobile. It offers a fresh, alternative way to bring back your beloved creatures and even tame new ones, all while introducing a host of new structures and items.

This guide will walk you through everything you need to know about this mod, from its core features to installation steps, ensuring you can get the most out of your survival experience.

What is the Death Essence Upgrade Mod?

The Death Essence Upgrade for ARK: Survival Ascended is a comprehensive overhaul of the death and revival mechanics. Instead of simply collecting a Death Essence from a fallen creature, this mod converts that essence into a physical Creature Implant. This implant acts as a storage device for the creature's data, allowing you to revive it later at a dedicated structure. The mod seamlessly integrates the Oasisaur into this new system, making it compatible with the new revival mechanics while also providing minor tweaks to its behavior.

This system is not just about recovery; it is about strategy. You can now choose to revive creatures at a slower pace with the Oasisaur or use the more advanced, tech-driven Revival Platform for immediate results. The choice is yours, adding a new layer of depth to creature management.

Key Features and New Structures

The mod introduces several key structures that are essential to the new workflow. Each serves a unique purpose in the cycle of taming, losing, and reviving your dinosaurs.

• Revival Platform: This is your primary tool for bringing creatures back. Unlocked at level 65 and crafted on a Fabricator or Tek Replicator, it allows you to place a Creature Implant in its inventory and resurrect the creature for a cost of Ancient Amber. The cost scales with the creature's type and level.
• Tek Implant Chamber: For those who aren't ready to revive a creature immediately, this chamber, unlocked at level 102, freezes the timers on all Implants placed inside. It requires electricity to operate, ensuring your precious data is preserved indefinitely.
• Tek Kibble Processor: This advanced machine, unlocked at level 105, allows you to convert any kibble into a specific type using a Creature Implant and Element. It is an ingenious way to manage your kibble production and ensure you always have the right food for your next tame.

Introducing the Amber Store and Ancient Amber

A major update to the mod introduced the Amber Store, a new menu accessible from the player's radial wheel. This store acts as a marketplace where you can spend Ancient Amber, a new resource that drops from harvesting rocks and killing Alpha creatures. This resource is the lifeblood of the mod, serving as currency for revivals and for purchasing powerful new items.

The Amber Store is divided into several categories, each offering unique benefits. From ARKetypes that provide special gear to Childcare items that help raise babies, there is something for every survivor. For example, you can purchase Eerie Turrets that have infinite ammo or Soothing Balms that significantly boost taming effectiveness. You can even buy pheromones to speed up breeding and increase mutation chances.

Understanding the New Implant System

The core change is how creatures drop their essence. Now, all creatures, including underwater and unbreedable ones, will leave behind a Creature Implant on their corpse. This implant is not stored in a bag but is left directly on the body. You can also "Chronicle" your tamed creatures, essentially turning them back into an implant as an alternative to using Cryopods. This is done via the creature's radial wheel and results in a bag containing the implant and any items the creature was carrying.

How to Install and Get Started

Getting started with this mod is straightforward. To download Death Essence Upgrade, you will need to find it on your preferred mod repository for ARK: Survival Ascended. Once you have downloaded the files, you need to know how to install it correctly.

First, ensure the mod is placed in your server's mod folder or your local game's mod directory. After launching the game, activate the mod in your mod list before joining a server. It is crucial to ensure that all players on the server have the mod installed to avoid compatibility issues. The mod is designed to work with the latest versions of ARK: Survival Ascended, and the developer actively updates it to ensure compatibility with new game patches.

For a seamless experience, many players use the foxygame.net launcher. This launcher simplifies the entire process, allowing you to download and manage the Death Essence Upgrade with a single click. Its integrated add-on catalog ensures you always have the latest version, and its auto-update feature handles version compatibility automatically, so you can spend less time managing files and more time surviving.

Mod Compatibility and Warnings

Before you install, be aware of a few important warnings. This mod remaps the original Death Essence and Oasisaur files, as well as several harvesting components. This means it may conflict with other mods that alter these same files. Always check for compatibility before adding other mods to your stack. Additionally, the mod requires Bob's Tall Tales DLC to use the Creature Implant part of the mod, as it contains the core assets.

A New Era of Creature Management

The Death Essence Upgrade is more than just a convenience; it is a fundamental shift in how you approach risk and reward in ARK. The ability to safely store your tames as implants and revive them at your leisure reduces the stress of permanent loss. The addition of the Amber Store and its myriad of items, from crafting stations to instant buffs, provides a deep end-game progression path that rewards exploration and combat. Whether you are a solo player or managing a large tribe, this mod offers a robust and satisfying alternative to the standard mechanics, making it a must-have addition to your ARK: Survival Ascended mod list.
