Discover the Charm of Blocklings in Minecraft

Minecraft has always been about creativity and companionship, but what if your loyal helper came in the form of a tiny, living block? The Blocklings mod introduces exactly that — small, block-shaped creatures that roam grassy biomes, ready to become your steadfast allies. With the latest Version 7.0.0 Beta 4 available for Minecraft 1.16.5, these adorable entities bring a fresh layer of RPG-style progression and automation to your world. Whether you need a miner, a lumberjack, a farmer, or a bodyguard, a tamed Blockling can do it all while growing stronger alongside you.

Finding and Taming Your First Blockling

Blocklings spawn naturally in grassy areas like plains and forests, though they can be a bit rare. They share the landscape with other passive mobs, so keep an eye out for their distinct cubic shape. Once you spot one, approach with a flower in hand — Blocklings absolutely love flowers. Taming works just like befriending a wolf with bones: simply right-click the creature with any flower until hearts appear. After taming, you can heal your Blockling by feeding it more flowers, and you can make it sit, follow, or wander by right-clicking without a flower in your hand.

Getting started with Blocklings is straightforward. For a seamless experience, this mod can be easily installed via the foxygame.net launcher — a convenient, flexible, and modern Minecraft launcher where you can download mods right from the menu. Once you have the mod in place, you will begin encountering these charming helpers in no time.

The Blockling Interface and Core Mechanics

Sneak and right-click your tamed Blockling (without a flower) to open its graphical user interface. Here you will find a world of customization spread across several tabs. The interface may look complex at first, but each section serves a clear purpose.

Stats and Leveling

The Stats tab displays four distinct skill categories: Combat, Mining, Woodcutting, and Farming. Each time your Blockling performs a related task — slaying mobs, breaking ores, chopping logs, or harvesting crops — it gains experience in that skill. As levels increase, the creature becomes faster and more efficient. Three buttons at the bottom let you control its behavior: the first sets the active task (Hunting, Mining, Woodcutting, Farming, or None), the second toggles guard mode (making it attack anything you strike, much like a wolf), and the third switches between sitting, following, and wandering.

Equipment and Tool Management

Blocklings need the right tools to work. A stone pickaxe allows them to mine coal, while an axe is necessary for woodcutting. You can equip tools by placing them in the dedicated slots inside the Equipment tab or by simply right-clicking the Blockling with the item. The small ‘A’ buttons beneath each slot enable automatic tool switching — green means on, red means off. When enabled, the Blockling will swap to the appropriate tool from its inventory depending on the task, saving you from constant micromanagement.

At the top of the Equipment tab sits a material upgrade slot. Placing certain blocks here gives a chance to transform your Blockling’s type, each with unique stat bonuses. The upgrade materials include:

  • Dirt or Grass
  • Logs
  • Pumpkin
  • Stone
  • Iron Ingot
  • Nether Quartz
  • Gold Ingot
  • Lapis Lazuli
  • Emerald
  • Diamond
  • Obsidian

For example, placing a Lapis Lazuli block has a 50% chance to turn your Blockling into a Lapis variant, granting permanent stat enhancements. Experiment with different materials to find the perfect build.

Inventory and Abilities

The Inventory tab stores everything your Blockling collects during tasks. Some slots are initially locked and become available as you unlock abilities. Abilities are purchased with skill points, earned every five levels across all skills. Each ability tree offers perks like increased mining range, a chance to instantly break blocks, or special combat moves. Click an ability to select it (it turns green) and press ‘Buy’. If you change your mind, the reallocate button lets you redistribute points, but be warned: there is a risk of losing levels and skill points in the process.

Advanced Upgrades and Customization

Beyond the core progression, Blocklings support a variety of upgrades that can be placed in their dedicated slots. These include Special upgrades (such as a chance to double potion effect duration or highlight the Blockling with a glowing effect), Type upgrades that alter health, damage, and speed, Potion upgrades that add effects like poison or leaping attacks, and Stat upgrades that grant regeneration, fire immunity, or bursts of speed. The mod’s config file allows you to tweak drop rates and behavior to suit your playstyle.

Creative Mode and Quick Tips

In Creative mode, you can spawn Blocklings with a standard spawn egg and instantly level them up to 99 by right-clicking with a Bottle o’ Enchanting. If your Blockling falls in battle, it drops as an item — you can pick it up and place it back, but each upgrade has a 33% chance of being destroyed, so keep your little friend safe.

To get the most out of your Blockling, always keep a healthy supply of flowers for taming and healing. Set up a small flower farm near your base to ensure you never run out. Remember that shift-right-clicking with a flower picks up the Blockling in item form, perfect for transporting them across long distances or keeping them safe during dangerous journeys.

Why Blocklings Deserve a Spot in Your Modpack

The Blocklings mod seamlessly blends companionship with practical automation, offering a rewarding progression system that makes every adventure feel more personal. Watching a tiny block creature chop down an entire forest or bravely defend you against a creeper never gets old. With intuitive controls, deep customization, and a charming aesthetic, Blocklings transform the way you interact with the Minecraft world. Whether you are a solo survivalist or a builder looking for a helping hand, these little companions bring both utility and heart to your blocky existence.
